5D was the '08 summer project of Score where we attempted to create five games in five weeks, working five days in a week and five hours a day with five people. Here are all the games, our reports from making them and all project files for you to play around with. These projects are released under the Creative Commons 2.5 licence.
Please note how the games progress on quality and/or fun with each new production and read the reports if you find something interesting. All feedback is greatly encouraged and can be sent to score (at) igda (dot) fi. We also accept love letters and corruption presents!

The colour of the world is fading! Evil Grinders have already stolen most of the worlds colour and they hunger knows no limits. It's your duty to fly after them with your trusty spacecraft and gather the world's colour back by bashing it out from enemy ships.
The game is co-op shoot'em up where each of the players control their own spaceshuttle and try to survive against hordes of enemies in a confined space. Idea is to shoot enemies with different coloured ammunition which will then yield all the colour of the ammunition to the player. Players will have their own colour value which also represents their life points. There's a target color at the bottom of the screen which will tell what colour players should be reaching for to gain more combo multiplier. The enemies will spawn from the sides of the screen and the game will continue until both of the players are destroyed. If only one of them dies, the other can still save him by killing all the enemies on screen for this particular level. The spacecrafts are very agile which makes the game fast paced and fun.

The end is near. Two characters have finally determined to find out who is who in a epic air battle. They launch themselves high into sky by jumping as hard as they can and into the orbit by collecting power orbs on the way to boost their speed.
The objective of this game is to gain enough altitude to leave the other player off the screen and into his doom. This can be achived by actively collecting power orbs which will give the player a small one time boost upwards and after a certain amount of orbs a jump in the midair which can be used at any time. Naturally, there's more than just players and orbs in the sky. There's things like birds, clouds and airplanes and every piece of scenery in the sky is throwable by the players. If they hit another player with it, they will slow down and eventually start to fall.

Yar har and a bottle of rum! Two pirate crews have obtained info about a buried treasure and they've come to claim it at the same time. This naturally leads to a conflict even tough there would be enough treasure for everyone. That's just how pirate heart works.
This game is a two player versus over the network. Each player controls a pirate crew consisting from six scallywags and one captain. Captain is the backbone of the whole crew, so if he is killed the morale of the crew will shatter and they shall flee defeated. The victors can then dig up the treasure and live rest of their lives in a drunken haze. Neither of the players knows which of the opposite sides pirate is which, as they are only shown in grayish color and the true rank of the pirate is only revealed when they get into a fight. Both crews of seven have lined up on their own side of the isometric map which is divided into 7x11 squares with different kind of randomized ground elements. Things like hills, woodland and gorges will affect the result of the fight significally.
Sadly, this game didn't finish within our cruel deadline.

One word: Steampunk pajatso. A steampowered game board with two inverted gravities and whole lot coins to shoot at the coinslots. Whoever can get more coins to score is the winner.
Payazzo is a two player versus each other and versus environment. Both players have a coin launcher which will shoot coins of different value. Bigger coins score more points, but if you miss your target the coin is likely to travel through a gutter and into the other players stack of coins. Scored coins move the coinslots further away from you and more closer to your opponent making it harder for you and easier to your opponent to score again. What makes this game a steam punk game is the feel of the game athmosphere and the steampowered board that continues to pump the coins into their right places.

The Iron Snail Cup is here! The gnomes have worked hard to get their snails to peak crawling condition, and now is the time to find out who will be the champion. The first snail to cross the finish line will win the race, while the gnomes give help from the side lines as best they can.
Iron Snail is a racing game for 2-4 players. Instead of actually navigating the course themselves, though, the players must shout commands for their snails to follow. The louder you yell, the greater the effect the command has on your snail. But your shouts also affect the other snails, and the other players' shouts affect yours, so stay sharp. When a snail is rushed too much, it will have a minor nervous breakdown, and will need some positive reinforcement from their coach, the player.
