Score is a club for people interested in video game development (gamedev). Our objective is to establish and maintain an active student and hobbyist community in Finland, and co-operate with game companies, schools and other institutions and related communities in the Nordic and European countries. Score’s headquarters currently lie in Tampere, Finland, but we have members from several locations already.

How can I Score?

The obvious one: Make games. If you have a game concept in mind, don’t keep it to yourself. We are not trying to steal your ideas, but help them come true. Trust us on this one, you don’t want to learn everything related to gamedev from scratch and by yourself. Choose a profession you’re interested in (e.g. programming, graphics, audio, production, design) and inform us that you’re willing to take part in a game development project. We have loads of eager developers, so getting a team up and running shouldn’t be too hard. Someone just might have an idea of a game concept that would need your skills to realize.

Help us improve. Running a game development club is hard work, but really pays off. We mean, really. Employers drool for self-motivated people, so if you have initiative, you’re most certainly going to stand out.

Enjoy the benefits. If you’re in Tampere, visit our game lab at Finlayson and try out some of the hottest games there is right now, or just come chat with us. If you want to get together with the game industry, hitch a minivan ride to the next gathering of IGDA Finland held monthly at Helsinki. Join our Facebook group, friend us at Xbox Live, anything is permitted.

Join our club. You don’t necessarily have to be a member of Score to do any of the above, but it helps us in a lot of ways, like reaching you more easily and knowing that you want to support our actions. Membership is free and does not require anything from you by itself. To make it easier for us to steal your identity, please provide us with the following details of yourself:

  • Full name. Inform us if you don’t want your name shown publicly on the Members section of our site.
  • Occupation. If you’re a student, in what school do you study, what is your major and (when) are you planning to graduate? If you’re employed, in what company do you work in, and what is your job title?
  • Contact information: e-mail address, phone number, instant messengers, social networking profiles (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) and alike.
  • Link to your homepage, CV or portfolio. Inform us if you don’t want it to appear in the public Members section on Score’s site.
  • Interests and specialties. What would you like to do in Score? What are you good at?

You can leave any of the above blank if you like, but it helps us if you co-operate. We won’t share your contact or occupational information with third parties.

With all that being said, if you want to take part in our gamedev projects, join our ranks, help us with the club managing itself, support our actions, receive tutoring or guidance, or if you have something completely different in mind, contact us preferably by dropping us an e-mail. We’ll definitely get back to you.
