Score co-operates with a number of different organizations. If you wish to appear on this listing, contact us so we can discuss further details on possible co-operation and/or sponsoring.
Tampere School of Art & Media (specialized campus of TAMK University of Applied Sciences located in Finlayson, Tampere) acts as Score’s main headquarters. The school has been highly supportive towards our club: it has funded us with a dedicated game lab, free transportation to the monthly gatherings of IGDA Finland (see below), a field trip to Norway and, what’s best, granted us permission to use our diverse projects as part of our studies. Technically, Score is a sub-organization (a student club if you will) operating under TAMKO, the TAMK student union.
Score is an official IGDA (International Game Developers Association) student club. IGDA Finland (the Finnish chapter of IGDA) not only hosts our website, but also makes it possible for us to network with the Finnish game industry in their monthly gatherings. In turn, a fair number of Score members are actively involved with the operations of IGDA Finland, as well. We have already successfully infiltrated a web coordinator, a webmaster and several volunteers to their ranks.
Demola is an open innovation environment for university students and ICT and media companies operating in the Tampere region. Demola’s workspaces are located in Finlayson near the School of Art & Media, and are well fit for both doing projects and having fun, even simultaneously. TAMK has sponsored four working stations (iMacs) in Demola premises to be utilised by Score. Some of the club’s members have been participating in Demola projects., and a couple of us even work for Demola itself.
Neogames is the Finnish Center of Game Business, Research and Development. It has existing links to Tampere School of Art and Media, and has funded the school’s annual game production course with free tickets to Nordic Game Malmö for several years now. Neogames received voluntary support for a booth at Assembly Winter 2007 from several students who would later play an important role in Score. Oh yeah, and by the way, our club’s co-founder Teemu Haila finished his civil service at Neogames employed as an assistant producer, no doubt thanks to his enormous activity in Score.
Microsoft has sponsored Score’s activities and provided us with educational materials, software and games. Teemu Haila is currently a Microsoft Student Partner.
